The DOE NEPA hearing on the draft Environmental Assessment for FRIB at MSU was held last night.
Vice President Gray greeted DOE and members of the public on MSU’s behalf at 7 pm, FRIB Federal Project Director Ron Lutha represented DOE Office of Science and Peter Siebach, DOE Office of Science NEPA Compliance Officer, presented the pre-decisional draft Environmental Assessment followed by an informal Q&A. About 12 members of the public attended and made two in-person comments for the record. Both comments were supportive of FRIB and the open and transparent NEPA process we are following. The hearing was paused at about 8:30 pm after the comments and officially closed at 9:30 pm (the advertised closing time).
