Experimental Systems and Accelerator Systems advisory committees meet

The FRIB Project hosted two peer advisory committee reviews last week. The Experimental Systems Advisory Committee (ESAC) met Monday and Tuesday, February 7-8, and the Accelerator Systems Advisory Committee (ASAC) met Wednesday-Friday, February 9-11.

These peer reviews were charged to assess FRIB’s progress on optimizing the preferred alternative design (approved by DOE on Sept 1, 2010 – see story) and the Project’s readiness for baselining the preliminary design in spring 2012. Committee members came from Argonne National Laboratory, Brookhaven National Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, Cornell University, Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, University of Wisconsin, and institutions in Canada, Germany, and Japan. The reviews were also attended by representatives from DOE Office of Science Chicago and from the DOE Office of Nuclear Physics in Germantown, MD.
