SRF Highbay now operational

01 August 2014

As of today, FRIB Project team members have moved into the SRF (superconducting radio frequency) Highbay and have started installing processing equipment. The clean room is operational, including custom cleaning equipment, and the degassing furnace has been installed and commissioning started. Additionally, the high-purity water systems and chemical scrubber are installed and operational while the installation of water for the cryogenic plant, compressed air and stainless steel cryo-piping is underway. A new coordinate measuring machine (CMM) has also been installed, commissioned and is in full operation.

The SRF Highbay is a state-of-the art processing facility that MSU funded to help prepare components for FRIB.
