Brad Bull

Conventional Facilities and
Infrastructure Division Director

As FRIB Conventional Facilities and Infrastructure Division Director, Brad Bull directs the design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of all aspects of FRIB civil construction activities safely and within the approved budget and schedule. Brad also coordinates the efforts of FRIB Project team members, Michigan State University’s Infrastructure Planning and Facilities (IPF) unit and civil construction contractors to ensure successful project delivery.

Brad brings 14 years of progressively more responsible construction management experience to FRIB. He worked in private industry for a professional civil engineering, environmental consulting, architectural/engineering, and construction management firm, and he served as the construction supervisor in the Engineering and Architectural Services department at IPF. At MSU, he has overseen 185 projects annually on average, which have totaled more than $100 million in construction costs per year. He also initiated a formal plan-review process, improving budget, schedule, and safety performance by enhancing communication between customers, designers, project representatives, and contractors. He is familiar with MSU processes and reports regularly to MSU's Executive Vice President for Administrative Services.

Some notable MSU projects that Brad supervised include the $39.5-million T.B. Simon Power Plant addition, the $68-million Spartan Stadium addition, the $47.9-million Snyder and Phillips Hall addition, and the $93-million Biomedical Physical Sciences Building. He also managed the Veterinary Medicine Nuclear Magnetic Resonance addition, which included the installation of a linear accelerator, and the radiopharmaceutical addition to the MSU Clinical Center and Radiology Building, which included the installation of a small cyclotron.

Brad holds a bachelor’s degree in construction science from Northern Michigan University.
