Student grant program

 
Thanks to the sponsorship of  the American Physical Society-Division of Physics of Beams (APS-DPB), a certain number of grants will be offered to students in the field of Accelerator Science and Technology to attend NAPAC2019.

The grants include a waiver of registration fees and shared lodging at the Radisson Hotel Lansing and a per diem allowance or dining vouchers. Students pursuing doctoral, master's, or bachelor’s degrees may apply.

Non-U.S. students must apply for a business visa.

Financial support will be available to a selected number of students registered for a PhD or degree in accelerator physics or engineering, to offset the cost of the conference registration fee and shared accommodation at the Radisson Hotel Lansing. Supported students will be expected to assist the speakers and delegates during the conference sessions and as well as registration formalities.

In order to be considered for support, students must register for the conference using the applicable student registration form and participate in the Student Poster Session on Sunday, 1 September 2019. Students awarded financial support must arrive in Lansing before Sunday, 1 September 2019 at noon, and attend an orientation and training session on Sunday, 1 September 2019 at 1:00 p.m. EST.

How to participate and apply for financial support

To be considered for financial support, you must:

  • Register as student using the early student registration, mention in the comment box that you are applying for financial support
  • Send an email to napac2019@frib.msu.edu with the following attachments
    • Certificate of degree
    • Curriculum Vitae
    • Recommendation letter from your supervisor or group leader
    • Abstract including title and a main classification

Please note that all applications and recommendations must be received by 15 May 2019. Successful applicants will be notified by 1 June 2019.

Your application will not be complete without all of the documents listed above as well as the registration submission.  Applicants will not be required to pay the registration fee until after the notification date of 1 June 2019. If awarded a student grant, the registration fee will be waived. Applicants will receive a confirmation when all documents have been received. 

Responsibilities of student grant recipients

Students receiving grants must present their work in the special student poster session on Sunday, 1 September 2019, submit their contributions for the proceedings by Tuesday, 27 August 2019, and act as scientific secretaries during at least one conference sessions.

Notification

Successful applicants will be notified by: 1 June 2019 and are required to respond with a formal confirmation by: 15 June 2019.
