Thomas Borden named Experimental Systems Division Director

We welcome Thomas Borden to the FRIB Project as Experimental Systems Project Engineer.

Tom will provide engineering leadership and coordinate the design and integration of engineering systems in the Experimental Systems Division to ensure project designs conform to physics requirements, engineering criteria, and control interfaces. He will be responsible to successfully deliver integrated systems within the approved project baseline.

Tom comes to FRIB from Sincrotrone Trieste in Trieste, Italy where he served as Senior Diagnostic Engineer since 2008. He was responsible for all aspects of of the mechanical systems and peripherals for the e-beam and X-ray photon diagnostics systems. He was also primary communicator of the diagnostics effort. Tom spent seven years at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory on the LINAC Coherent Light Source Project and was responsible for the development, design, fabrication, cost management, and integration of the GLAST Tracker subsystem. He spent the 11 years prior as technical staff at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology.
