Structural steel installed for office tower

20 August 2015

Construction of FRIB’s new office tower, which will house both permanent FRIB staff and visiting researchers, is progressing quickly this summer.

The caissons (drilled piers, which are essentially concrete columns that the building will sit on) and underground utility work have been completed, and structural steel erection started the end of July.

Steel columns are being set on the west side for the new office tower, and will make their way to the east side of the site. Structural steel will be completed the beginning of September. Following steel, the first floor will be prepped and poured by the end of September.

The office tower is scheduled to be completed in August 2016.
