FRIB hosts construction safety event to highlight fall protection 4 May
As part of the U.S. Department of Labor’s OSHA National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction, Michigan State University hosted a stand-down event on the FRIB construction site on 4 May.
Hosted by MSU, Barton Malow and the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA), the event was designed to raise awareness of preventing fall hazards in construction. The event included demonstrations of proper fall-protection gear and employee training on fall protection safety awareness for all FRIB subcontractors.
Remarks were given by MIOSHA Acting Director Bart Pickelman, Barton Malow Safety Supervisor John Pike and Superintendent Josh Pettijohn. FRIB Conventional Facilities and Infrastructure Division Director Brad Bull, Environmental Safety, Health and Quality Manager Peter Grivins and Construction Safety Manager Zach Hansmann helped coordinate the event in the FRIB linear accelerator tunnel.
