SMASH: A Nuclear Adventure

This 15,000-square-foot interactive exhibit at Impression 5 allows children and adults to explore and smash atoms, create rare isotopes, observe cosmic rays, expand their understanding of nuclear science, and rethink what’s possible.

The exhibit features a series of videos that highlight the individuals who contribute to the work at FRIB and explores the various jobs and skill sets that make the research at FRIB possible. Also featured as part of the exhibit is Isotopolis, an exploratory science game developed by the Games for Entertainment and Learning (GEL) Lab at Michigan State University. Players can discover rare isotopes, accelerate particles, assemble new isotopes, and attempt to complete the table of nuclides.

“SMASH: A Nuclear Adventure” is sponsored by TechSmith, FRIB, MSU Federal Credit Union, and the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.
