High-Transmission Beam Line and Spectrometer Section Superconducting Magnet Power Supplies

High-transmission beam line (HTBL) and spectrometer section (SPS) superconducting magnet power supplies (SCM PS) are critical to the function and upgrade of the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB). It is important that all specifications and requirements are met.

This is a build-to-specification procurement. FRIB will provide specifications and additional instructions in a Statement of Work. Supplier is responsible for:

  • Manufacturing of all parts according to provided specifications 
  • Project schedule
  • Manufacturing plan 
  • Preproduction design review
  • Full documentation upon award to include assembly drawings, schematics, bill of material, recommended spares and preventative maintenance schedule

Suppliers who wish to be considered in the bidding process must have:

  • Experience in delivering SCM PS programs to other national laboratories (references/recommendations)
  • Experience with effective management of complex projects including the oversight of project milestone deliverables
  • Demonstrated SCM PS magnet protection experience
  • Quality management system (ISO/AS 9001 or equivalent) 
  • Experience with managing and monitoring tier I and tier II suppliers
  • Quality control inspection requirements for incoming material and material certifications 
  • Processes and systems to manage documentation requirements
  • Experience with engineering and fabrication of similar products 
  • Warranty plan

The following will be the basis for evaluating companies participating in this proposal:

  • Cost (firm fixed price)
  • Demonstrated SCM PS magnet protection experience 
  • References/recommendations
  • Experience with effective management of complex projects including the oversight of project milestone deliverables 
  • Quality management system (ISO/AS 9001 or equivalent)
  • Experience with managing and monitoring tier I and tier II suppliers
  • Quality control inspection requirements for incoming material and material certifications 
  • Processes and system to manage documentation requirements
  • Proposed topology, efficiency, component margin, reliability analysis and SCM PS self-protection 
  • Capability to meet the required packaging now down requirements
  • Proposed lead time 
  • Warranty plan
