Partnerships with national laboratories
FRIB is unique, and establishing FRIB at MSU involved significant collaboration with others. The FRIB Laboratory made use of specific expertise available at U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science (DOE-SC) national laboratories to review technical and civil construction designs, support technical construction activities, and to provide project scope.
National laboratories
These collaborations are facilitated by twenty-four strategic partnership project agreements (formerly known as work for others agreements) with seven DOE-SC national laboratories.
- Argonne National Laboratory (ANL)
- Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL)
- Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL)
- Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab)
- Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL)
- Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL)
- Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab)
Association for Research at University Nuclear Accelerators
The Association for Research at University Nuclear Accelerators (ARUNA) laboratories are an important part of the FRIB network. They, along with the U.S. premier stable beam user facility Argonne Tandem Linac Accelerator System (ATLAS) at ANL and research efforts at other U.S. national laboratories (BNL, LANL, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, ORNL), provided the necessary tools and community to deliver on FRIB’s scientific promise.
