Performers
Te-Fen Cheng is a clarinetist from Taiwan. Cheng has her bachelor’s degree in clarinet performance in the Tainan University of Technology. She did her master’s degree at the National Sun Yat-sen University at Taiwan Kaohsiung with Dr. I- Chun Chen. Currently, Cheng is continuing her performance diploma at MSU with Dr. Mingzhe Wang.
Elyor Gofurov is a clarinetist from Uzbekistan, Tashkent. He earned his bachelor’s degree in clarinet performance at The State Conservatory of Uzbekistan and received his master’s degree at MS. Currently, Gofurov is continuing his doctoral degree at MSU with Dr. Guy Yehuda. He has won national and international competitions such as Selmer Academy Competition, International Festival Creative Youth in Kazakhstan, and national competitions in Uzbekistan.
Clarinetist Zi-Yi (Tivon) Lee was born in Taiwan. He holds a bachelor of music from the National Taiwan University of Arts where he studied under Chiaohui Yang. He also received his master’s degree in music performance from University of North Texas under Kimberly Cole Luevano, Daryl Coad, and Ivan Petruzziello. He is currently in the second year of the doctor of musical arts program at MSU and studying with Mingzhe Wang. Lee has won the Young Texas Artists Music Competition, UNT Concerto Competition, Buffet Crampon Clarinet Competition, NTUA Concerto Competition, and National Taiwan Student Competition of Music.
Wenzheng (Franky) Mu was born in China. He obtained his undergraduate and master’s degrees in China and is studying for his doctor of musical arts degree at MSU. His teacher is Dr. Mingzhe Wang.
Noah Meinecke is originally from Wichita, Kansas. They have a bachelor’s degree in clarinet performance from Wichita State University. Meinecke has studied with Professor Rachelle Goter as well as Dr. Sarunas Jeankauskas and is a first-year master’s student in Dr. Wang’s studio.
Alicia Gutierrez was born in Costa Rica. They did their undergraduate studies at Duquesne University and earned their master’s degree at Carnegie Mellon. Gutierrez has studied under Ron Samuels, Tomas Thompson and Dr. Guy Yehuda.
Sunil Kim is a clarinetist from South Korea. Kim earned his bachelor’s degree in clarinet performance and church music at Chongshin University, and received his master’s degree at the State University of New York at Fredonia under Dr. Andrew Seigel. Currently, Kim is continuing his doctor of musical arts in clarinet performance at MSU with Dr. Guy Yehuda.
