FRIB hosted the FRIB Theory Alliance (FRIB-TA) topical program titled “Theoretical Justifications and Motivations for Early High-Profile FRIB Experiments” from 16-26 May.

Approximately 60 participants attended to discuss questions such as:

  • How does nuclear structure change as one approaches the drip line?
  • How do nuclear reactions change?
  • Can we anticipate "new phenomena" near the drip lines?

The program included experimental presentations giving the possibilities for observables of interest at FRIB for the first few years, presentations on theoretical methods, and discussion sessions on theory-related topics and observables.

About the FRIB Theory Alliance

FRIB-TA is a coalition of scientists from universities and national laboratories who seek to foster advancements in theory related to diverse areas of FRIB science; optimize the coupling between theory and experiment; and stimulate the field by creating permanent theory positions across the country, attracting young talent through the national FRIB Theory Fellow Program, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations, and shepherding international initiatives.
