FRIB and Brookhaven National Laboratory

FRIB's partnership with Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) includes the helium gas charge stripper that was developed as an alternative technology to the baseline liquid lithium charge stripper. The initial proof-of-principle experimental work for the plasma windows of the helium stripper was performed at BNL.

The use of plasma windows to decrease the helium leaked developed by BNL has continued at FRIB, where experimental tested have demonstrated the feasibility of a 6–millimeter diameter aperture in the plasma window with the required helium pressure in the stripper chamber.
