Performer bios

Jackson Hacias, saxophone

Jackson Hacias is a fiery young saxophonist hailing from the Cincinnati, Ohio jazz scene studying with the esteemed Walter Blanding, Jr. in the MSU College of Music. In addition to majoring in music, he also has a great passion for science. Jackson studies physics and plans on continuing in graduate school. He has also performed research at FRIB over his entire time at MSU, studying fluctuation analysis for nuclear level density extraction in the Charge Exchange Group led by Remco Zegers.

Jonathan Hilliard, bass

Jonathan Hilliard is an emerging jazz bassist from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area who is studying at MSU under Professor Rodney Whitaker. Jonathan has performed with many of the professors including Xavier Davis, Randy Napoleon, Walter Blanding, and Michael Dease. Jonathan has also worked with Tony Michelli and V. Shayne Fredrick in Philadelphia and studied briefly with John Swana.

Kevin Eisenberg, piano

Kevin Eisenberg is a jazz and classical pianist from Long Island, New York. Growing up in the metro area of jazz’s capital city, New York City, fostered his love of music in tandem with physics. He works as a professorial assistant for Dr. Revel in experimental physics of neutron-rich nuclei.

Chris Corey, drums

Chris Corey is a musician from Rockford, Michigan, known for his passion for drumming. Growing up in a musical family, he honed his skills and is currently studying in the jazz studies program at MSU. Chris actively performs at various gigs and shows across Michigan, showcasing his dedication to his craft and the vibrant music scene in the region.
