FRIB undergraduate student Graham Malone earns DOE-SC internship

Graham Malone, FRIB undergraduate student and fourth-year Michigan State University student majoring in physics, has earned a Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship (SULI) from the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science (DOE-SC). Malone will intern at Oak Ridge National Laboratory this fall, returning to FRIB following his internship. 

Each year, students from around the country participate in SULI at one of the 17 participating DOE laboratories/facilities. This opportunity is part of DOE’s ongoing efforts to ensure the United States maintains a highly skilled scientific and technical workforce to address the energy, economic, and national security challenges of today and tomorrow. 

In this internship, students work directly with national laboratory scientists and engineers on science and technology areas that underpin DOE’s missions. This is an opportunity for students to enhance their professional network and develop their interests in research facilities.

SULI is a paid internship opportunity sponsored and managed by the DOE-SC Office of Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS) in collaboration with DOE laboratories/facilities.

Michigan State University (MSU) operates the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) as a user facility for the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science (DOE-SC), with financial support from and furthering the mission of the DOE-SC Office of Nuclear Physics.
