FRIB undergraduate students earn DOE-SC internships

Four FRIB undergraduate students have earned Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) from the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science (DOE-SC). They will intern at national laboratories this summer, returning to FRIB in the fall. The four students are:

• Rashawn Carter, a first-year student majoring in physics
• Aesen Copeland, a third-year student majoring in astrophysics
• Kevin Eisenberg, a second-year student majoring in physics
• Cooper Rokop, a third-year student majoring in chemical engineering

Each year, students from around the country participate in SULI at one of the 17 participating DOE laboratories/facilities. This opportunity is part of DOE’s ongoing efforts to ensure the United States maintains a highly skilled scientific and technical workforce to address the energy, economic, and national security challenges of today and tomorrow. 

In this internship, students work directly with national laboratory scientists and engineers on science and technology areas that underpin DOE’s missions. This is an opportunity for students to enhance their professional network, develop their interests in research facilities, and enhance their professional network.

SULI is a paid internship opportunity sponsored and managed by the DOE-SC Office of Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS) in collaboration with DOE laboratories/facilities.
