Peer review finds experimental systems on track to support FRIB Project baseline

A peer review conducted last week of the fragment separator, mechanical design, target, beam dump, and magnet design affirmed that present status and progress in those areas are on track to support a performance baseline for FRIB by the end of calendar year 2011. 

Nathan Bultman from Los Alamos National Laboratory and Michael Dayton and Graeme Murdoch, both from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, reviewed the fragment separator, mechanical design, target, beam dump, and magnet design on 2-3 August. 

The committee judged preliminary design to be consistent with FRIB Project requirements, CD-4 deliverables, and cost and schedule projection and resource estimates. Interfacing and integration with related systems and components was also examined and found to be appropriately defined.
