Dr. Dimitri Kusnezov, chief scientist of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) in the U.S. Department of Energy, and senior advisor to the U.S. Secretary of Energy, visited FRIB on 2 and 3 November.

During his visit, Dr. Kusnezov met with several members of the FRIB staff, including graduate students supported by NNSA, toured FRIB, and attended several discussions on a variety of scientific topics.  

This afternoon, Dr. Kusnezov gave a presentation titled “Computational Modeling in Physics,” which focused on the need for computing and simulations to inform about complex problems.

Michigan State University (MSU) operates the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) as a user facility for the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science(link is external) (DOE SC), with financial support from and furthering the mission of the DOE‑SC Office of Nuclear Physics. FRIB is registered to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001, and ISO 45001.
