Supported by faculty advisors and staff, and with the availability of state-of-the-art facilities, postdoctoral scholars can develop their leadership in scientific research. Postdoctoral scholars write research proposals, develop and create state-of-the-art equipment and techniques, and contribute strongly to the scientific mission of FRIB.

FRIB has developed a postdoctoral scholar mentoring plan, which ensures timely and regular formal feedback so that the transition to the next steps in their career is effective. Postdoctoral scholars often play important roles in the support of (under)graduate students and are supported and encouraged to develop their mentoring skills. They also serve on laboratory and FRIB user community committees.
