Performer biographies
Young Hyun Cho
Young Hyun Cho is an associate professor of piano in the Michigan State University College of Music. She previously served as an associate professor at the University of Texas at Arlington.
An active international performer, Cho has appeared at venues including the Vienna Musikverein, the Berlin Philharmonic Concert Hall, Smetana Hall in Prague, the Solti Hall of the Liszt Academy in Budapest, and the Seoul Arts Center in South Korea. She has performed as a soloist with ensembles such as the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, Euro Sinfonietta Wien, Filarmonica della Calabria, North Czech Philharmonic Teplice, Budapest Symphony Chamber Orchestra MÁV, Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic, Korean Broadcasting System Symphony Orchestra, Korean Symphony Orchestra, Seoul National Symphony Orchestra, and the Eastman Symphony Orchestra.
Her recordings have received international critical attention for their technical precision and clarity of interpretation across classical, romantic, and contemporary repertoire. Critics have noted her control of dynamics, articulation, and expressive phrasing in both recorded and live performances.
Guy Yehuda
Guy Yehuda is associate professor and artist teacher of clarinet in the Michigan State University College of Music and principal clarinetist with the Lansing and Jackson symphony orchestras. He previously held faculty positions at Indiana University, the University of Virginia, and the University of North Florida.
An active international performer, Yehuda is recognized for his distinctive contributions on the international concert stage. He has appeared throughout Europe, the Americas, Israel, South Korea, and China, performing as principal or guest clarinetist with orchestras including the Israel Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and Lucerne Contemporary Festival Orchestra. He has worked under the direction of conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Zubin Mehta, Kurt Masur, and Daniel Barenboim.
Yehuda has performed at major festivals including Spoleto, Verbier, Lucerne, and Domaine Forget, and at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Chicago Symphony Hall, and Casa da Música in Portugal. His work spans standard and contemporary repertoire, including commissioned and premiered works by composers from around the world. His recordings have been released on the Reference Recordings, XII-21, Albany Records, and Blue Griffin labels.
He is a Selmer-Paris and Vandoren performing artist and product consultant and serves as artistic director of the Henri Selmer International Summer Academy in Michigan.
