FRIB provides a web-based calculator for users to compute the feasibility and estimated beam rates of the experiments they want to conduct.

FRIB Estimated Rates

Version 4.0 – 06/01/2026

The estimates available on the web-based calculator assume optimal conditions and are only intended to provide a rough indication of experiment feasibility. Actual rates will likely be less. Rates above 1E8 pps will require a detailed evaluation of primary beam and fragment power deposition and may not be possible.

Enter values for A and Z in the form below and click the "Lookup Estimate" button to view calculations.

Note: A value of 0 for stopped or reaccelerated rates means it was not possible to make a simple estimate. Estimation of a rate will require knowing the experimental requirements. If you are interested, please request a beam rate for cases where the estimate is 0.
