Paul Chu will join the FRIB Project as a professor and lead the application software group in the Controls Department within the Accelerator Systems Division. Paul joins FRIB from SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory where he led a multi-lab collaboration effort to implement service-oriented architecture for high-level applications and other projects for the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS). He also spent seven years at Oak Ridge National Laboratory where he was heavily involved in the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) beam commissioning, machine development, and tuning.
Paul received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Michigan, and a B.S. in physics from Fu-Jen Catholic University in Taipei, Taiwan.
