We welcome Daniel Stout to the FRIB Project as FRIB Project Chief Engineer.
Dan will provide engineering leadership and coordinate the design and integration of engineering systems including accelerator and experimental systems and civil construction.
Dan comes to FRIB from the ITER Project where he served as plant engineering design head since 2008, responsible for staffing, personnel, and project baseline for ITER cooling water, cryogenics, hot cell, and radioactive waste sections. He spent the previous eight years at Oak Ridge National Laboratory as lead engineer for the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of the superconducting radio-frequency linear accelerator for the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) project. Prior to that, he managed projects at Los Alamos National Laboratory and in private industry. He brings extensive project and management experience on large DOE Office of Science projects to the FRIB Project.
Dan holds an MS in Engineering and Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management and a BS in Engineering Physics from the University of Arizona. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and a Certified Project Management Professional.
